Abridged minutes from the Jura Community Council meeting held on 20th June. Full minutes can be seen on the community noticeboard in Craighouse: Ferry services: ASP have confirmed that the 9.30pm ferries are still available if pre-booked and an early Tuesday morning ferry is still available for those wishing to connect with the early sailing from Port Askaig to Kennacraig. Has to be pre-booked. A letter received from the Islay & Jura Ferry Company stating that they had put forward a proposal to Argyll & Bute Council regarding taking over the running of the Jura to Islay link. Content noted. Roads: JCC to confirm to A&B Council that they feel that any capital road improvements should be undertaken north of Craighouse. (Perhaps Lagg to Tarbert section.) Maintenance of the Feolin Ferry to Craighouse section to be undertaken. The Ardlussa to Inverlussa section is in very bad repair. Members were advised that the local bus service is incurring high repair bills due to the poor surface of the north end roads. It was also commented that other carriers/service providers were considering a ‗no service provision‘ north of Craighouse. The deteriorating state of the Keils/cemetery road was discussed. Members agreed that repairs should be undertaken and that A&B Council should accept responsibility. Confirm if the Council can erect signs at various intersections on Islay, confirming the route to the Jura ferry connection. Planning – Erection of detached building incorporating store room/workshop and studio/games room. Location: Bracken Cottage, Lussagiven. Applicant: Mr Simon MacFarlane And Ms Rozanne Foyer. No objection raised. Temporary erection of a 10 metre high meteorological mast for a period of 3 years. Location: Land At Cnoc An Lomair, Ardlussa. Applicant: Mr John Potts (For JDT)

Below are abridged minutes from the Jura Community Council meeting on 18th April 2011. Full minutes can be seen on the Community Noticeboard. Roads Members asked Cllr Currie to make the Council aware that JCC feel that any capital road improvements should be undertaken north of Craighouse. (Perhaps Lagg to Tarbert section.) Maintenance of the Feolin Ferry to Craighouse section to be undertaken. Planning Formation of temporary access points to classified road in connection with timber extraction operation. At Corrynahera Forest. Applicant Tarbert Estate. No objections raised. Medical Practice Interviews will take place in Islay on 27th April. The chairperson will attend on behalf of the Community Council. ‘BETI Bus’ Members were made aware that Council support for this service is under review. Local Plan Cllr Currie informed those present that a proposal in the new Local Plan may prohibit the right of crofters to build on their own land. JCC think this would be detrimental to development on Jura. Await further consultation. Renewables Donald Ewen Darroch informed members that construction of the Inver Hydro Project was now fully underway with the excavation of the dam site having started. Members noted that the increased vehicle traffic may exasperate any problems with the Jura to Islay service. (Due to Port Askaig congestion). It is planned to have the new scheme supplying power to Jura before Christmas this year.
